Region Competitors Advance to State Competition
Russell Middle School students competed at Region 2 STAR Events on February 23, 2013. Of the four students competing, all advanced in the top two for their event category. This means that all students will be advancing to State STAR Events Competition on March 15. Students placing first place at State Competition will advance to National STAR Events Competitions in Nashville, TN in July.
- Gabby Sanchez-Weiss received a gold medal in her Environmental Ambassador project. Gabby researched and implemented a recycling program at her school and promoted others to recycle.
- Jordan Jones received a silver medal in her Teach and Train project. Jordan researched what it takes to be an Early Childhood Educator and job shadowed a classroom teacher.
- Angel Sanchez-Weiss received a silver medal in his Career Investigation project. Anger researched what it takes to be a Family and Consumer Sciences Educator and job shadowed a classroom teacher.
- Tyler Place received a silver medal in his National Programs in Action project. Tyler studied the data and effects of Anti-Bully Week and came up with a plan for implementation in other schools.
FCCLA Members Plan National FCCLA Week
Members invited mayor Maynard to sign the proclomation for FCCLA week, Feb. 11-15. Students plan to promote the goals and achievements of RMS FCCLA that week via:

Thursday- FCCLA Spirit Day
